If you are interested in getting involved with the Alliance, we are excited to have you participate! We have volunteer options for adults and students and a variety of needs to best fit your time schedule. Take a look…
Fundraising Events
Turkey Trot – held annually the first Saturday after Thanksgiving
Join our committee to help coordinate all aspects of the 5K and 1 Mile race through Bruce Park. Committee meetings begin in early September and continue until just after the race. We also need nearly 100 volunteers on race day. Turkey Trot sub committees include: Communications, Sponsorships, Race Course Logistics, Prizes, and Food.
Trivia Challenge – held annually at the end of February/early March
This event rallies high-schoolers and adults to play an evening of trivia to raise money for the Alliance. Volunteers help with the Silent Auction, Game Logistics, Communications, Venue Organization/Set-Up. The first committee meeting will be held in the Fall to divide up various responsibilities; sub-committees then work independently & meet as needed.
AVID SUCCESS
Offers opportunities to work with Greenwich Public School AVID students, helping to make connections beyond family and school, and serving as a resource as students forge their college and career paths. We need:
Mentors to meet one on one with their assigned AVID students on a flexible, regular basis beginning in 11th or 12th grade and continuing through college..
Bench Experts to “take the call” as needed to answer students’ college and career questions such as how to pursue a career in a specific field, learn about a college of interest or apply for a certain scholarship.
Professionals to provide students with jobs and talk to students about their careers.
Sponsors who provide financial support via scholarships and college savings account matches and meet with groups of students.
Email Trish Rohr and Judy Nedell at avidsuccess@greenwichalliance.org for more information.
