OVERVIEW
Engages and Supports AVID Students Over a 21-Year Horizon from Elementary School to College & Beyond
Launched by the Alliance in 2020, AVID SUCCESS extends the reach of the nationally recognized AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) system – a proven model that closes opportunity gaps for students through academic rigour, personal support and real world preparation. Initially funded by an Alliance Reaching Out Grant, the AVID program has been operating in Greenwich Public Schools at Greenwich High School, Central and Western Middle Schools for 16+ years. Learn more about the GPS AVID program, its history and impact here.
AVID SUCCESS takes the AVID mission further, guiding GPS AVID students and alumni from elementary school through college graduation and into careers. AVID SUCCESS provides what public school systems can not always offer: scholarships, transition to college workshops, career coaching, mentorship, real world skill-building, family support and a long-term community resource. AVID SUCCESS also provides educators professional development funding and programmatic planning support.
