The Developing Artist Program (DAP), led by artists Michael Manning and Ben Quesnel, originated from a Reaching Out Grant in 2016. The goal of the program is to give students a broader understanding of what it means to be an artist and to expose young artists to the possibilities of pursuing a career in this field. To do this, a diverse group of professional studio artists are brought into the schools to share their work, practices, and experiences with the students.
Trips to artists’ studios, galleries and museums enhance these lessons. Today, DAP, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and continues to bring artists to the schools, the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich, and runs a summer camp.
