Dear Friends, Welcome to the new school year - there's lots to celebrate as we get underway with 2021-2022! This year marks our 15th anniversary as Greenwich's local public education foundation. We are proud to be the organization that focuses 100% of our energy on increasing outcomes and addressing access in education for all Greenwich Public School students. Summer was busy! Here are just a few of the top highlights: - AVID SUCCESS, our newest and largest initiative, now has its own section on our website
- AVID college students were awarded $60K in scholarships
- Our mentoring program was enhanced with new software
- Donors contributed to Student Sponsorships
- Volunteers gathered at the first ever, 'VOLLY O', experiential learning session on volunteering opportunities
- AVID alumni & educators had a chance to catch up and celebrate in my backyard
A special shout out to Cathy Blood, Kathy Chartier, Molly Fergusson, Sarah Goldin, Lisa Harkness, Hilary Hoffmeister, Nancy Kail, Sue Mirza, Judy Nedell, Blakely Stinebaugh, Joan Thakor, Michele Turk, Ingrid Winn and Ivonne Zucco for making this happen. As we transition from summer to fall, we are meeting with educators, getting ready to start Tuning In To Music lessons, gearing up for Turkey Trot and are funding grants to empower our students to grow and learn together. Check out James LeBrandi and Jenna Mazzilli, lifelong Greenwich residents and JC teachers, sporting the t-shirts gifted by the Alliance to kick off our 15 years of partnership with the Greenwich Public Schools. To all our GPS superheroes and students - have a terrific school year!
