JANUARY & FEBRUARY 2024

Hi Friends,

What's the first thing you will do after reading this newsletter?

Sign up for the Trivia Challenge, of course! Back in person on March 1 at the Tamarack Country Club.

Take part in this fun event or click the link to donate and help us meet the $25K match for AVID SUCCESS Scholarships and our many programs. Click here for more info and to register/donate.

Speaking of AVID SUCCESS Scholarships, we just completed our annual award of $154K for the 2023-2024 college year. In this recent round, 59 accomplished students received funding.

These 59 GHS AVID graduates are studying neuroscience, education, criminal justice, finance, economics, nursing and more. They are student leaders and are working at least one job.

Our total AVID SUCCESS Scholarship awards have reached $886K!

Public speaking? No problem for 54 New Lebanon School Declamation Contest participants!

Congratulations to the students for taking the risk and to the teachers who helped make it happen. See picture below of these 5th graders posing for a parent picture after the contest.

The Declamation Contest is one part of the Reaching Out Grants Theater Program that benefits the entire student body.

GREENWICH GIVES EXPO!

Thanks to Greenwich Moms for organizing Greenwich Gives A Charitable Organization Expo.

It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the Greenwich Alliance and to get updates from other community organizations. I had the pleasure of learning more about the Greenwich Lions Club. Did you know the Lions do free eye screenings for Greenwich Public School students? This year the Lions screened 2245 students at all 11 elementary schools in grades 1, 2, 4 and 5.

Have breakfast with me on March 16th at the 61st Annual Pancake Breakfast to benefit the Lions and all the organizations they support. View flyer here to learn more. Tickets can be bought at the door that morning or in advance at the Perrot Library - Adult Front Desk.

... ESSENTIAL EXTENSIONS TO THE GPS AVID EXPERIENCE!

What is an Elevator Pitch? What is Networking?

Ivonne Zucco, board member and People & Culture Consultant led workshops with AVID 12 and AVID SUCCESS volunteers to answer these questions.

Bottom line - be passionate about what matters most when networking and connections will be made.

As a part of AVID SUCCESS, we are working to build networks and make connections for AVID students & graduates.
