Coldwell Banker Realty and Realtors joined together to run and volunteer in remembrance of their friend and colleague, Julie Peters. We appreciate your generous sponsorship of the 5K and for the donations you collected to support the Alliance.

Very talented New Lebanon School 5th graders performed Willy Wonka Kids for their classmates, parents and teachers. The audience was all smiles watching the students sing and dance to the catchy tunes from the favorite movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. 

This show is one piece of the multi-faceted New Lebanon Theater grant program paid for by the Alliance. Congratulations to Carol Pugliano-Martin and to all the teachers who helped the students shine. Check out this Greenwich Free Press article about the production.

ESPORTS AT GHS - A CONNECTOR!

In 2021, Rick Baxley, GHS Science & eSports Coach, knew he needed new gaming computers for eSports in order to meet increased student interest and to build a competitive team. 

Our Reaching Out Grant investment of $15K seems to have been enough to get the eSports momentum rolling. GHS Student Activities and new coaches are all in to make this team a huge success.

In a recent update from Mr. Baxley, "eSports is able to include and service students who otherwise have no connection to GHS other than academic classes." Research shows a positive relationship between Extracurricular Participation and Student Engagement.

Recently, we were invited by the Common Sense Fund* to apply for funding for the Tuning In To Music program. This significant award helps us pay for private lessons for 20 nominated students. This year, there are 58 participants on the roster.

Tuning In To Music has been expanding access for under-resourced GPS students to the array of music ensembles in middle school and high school since 2006. Over this time, more than 400 students have received 16,000 hours of supplemental music instruction taught by the Connecticut School of Music.

* The Common Sense Fund promotes action both on the environment and in the arts that is practical, creative, and addresses social needs.

Attention all AVID College Students!

AVID SUCCESS Scholarship Application is now OPEN and due January 2, 2024. Scholarships totaling $155K will be distributed to AVID graduates attending college this year. Thanks to the many donors who have helped to make this possible.

Good Money Habits - Saving Money!

AVID students at Central and Western Middle Schools participated in the first of four Good Money Habits workshops designed and facilitated by Nancy Kail. At this session, students set up short and long term money saving goals and worked creatively with classmates to figure out money earning projects they can do together to help them start saving.
