Recently, we were invited by the Common Sense Fund* to apply for funding for the Tuning In To Music program. This significant award helps us pay for private lessons for 20 nominated students. This year, there are 58 participants on the roster.
Tuning In To Music has been expanding access for under-resourced GPS students to the array of music ensembles in middle school and high school since 2006. Over this time, more than 400 students have received 16,000 hours of supplemental music instruction taught by the Connecticut School of Music.
* The Common Sense Fund promotes action both on the environment and in the arts that is practical, creative, and addresses social needs. |
