Calling all innovative educational ideas … it is time to apply for a Reaching Out Grant. Grants are awarded to GPS educators and community organizations. Generously supported by the Greenwich Alliance, the 2023 GPS Honor Band commissioned a piece from internationally known composer Heather Hoefle which will be premiered at the February 8th concert. 

The Greenwich Public Schools Honor Band Festival is composed of over 75 students in 5th-6th grade, representing every elementary and middle school in the district. 

The GPS Honor Band was created with the goal of encouraging students to continue their participation in band beyond elementary school by giving our youngest band students a chance to challenge themselves musically.

Building Connections for AVID alumni and undergraduates is a key component for AVID SUCCESS. 

Alison, Leslie, Grace and Noemy, college students and graduates of AVID Classes 2019 through 2021, were hired over the break to work on an AVID Alumni Data Collection project as part of our Paying for College and Jobs focus.

And other AVID students took part in two Jobs & Professional Skills Workshops, Jump Start your Job Search and The Art of Networking & Interviewing, with Rita Burke and Francie Sinnott from Rising Tide.

Climate change is dramatically impacting the resources that everyone depends on and value, such as water, energy, air, etc. Communities of color and other marginalized groups often have the highest exposure and the fewest resources to respond to the impacts of climate change.

Join the YWCA Greenwich and other sponsors either in person or via Zoom at 7:00 pm for a panel discussion to explore these climate challenges in Connecticut today, the disparate impacts of climate change and offer solutions for a more equitable and just response to climate change in Connecticut.  Learn more and register here.
