Hi Friends, 

I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and spending time with our family and then returning to Greenwich to experience my very first Turkey Trot!

This is our 11th Annual Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk and I am finally in town to be a part of the race.

Registrations are flying in and the excitement from our schools and community is really awesome to watch. Thanks everyone for making this a fun family holiday tradition!

The Alliance Board recently zoomed with Gaspare Lipari and WMS students who are experiencing virtual and augmented reality through our grant called Unbound Innovations XR.

This project is a terrific example of what supporting the Alliance can make possible for GPS teachers and students. Reaching Out Grants allow them to explore new innovative ways to offer educational experiences.

FEATURING 15 YEARS - EACH MONTH WE WILL SHARE A BIT OF OUR HISTORY

This month focuses on one of our long standing grant programs: Dare 2 Care which has been operating across the district since 2015.

At the 2015 Reaching Out Grants reception, Dr. Alina Agiurgioaei Boie, GPS Psychologist and Dare 2 Care Champion, shows off this t-shirt with the slogan: Be Here! Log Off & Listen, emphasizing one of the GPS norms. The Dare 2 Care program focuses on developing social and emotional skills (SEL) in students in order to create a safe learning environment in all schools. This initiative involves training teachers in Mindfulness practices, promoting the district norms and involving the community in these efforts. Since 2015, thousands of GPS students have learned Mindfulness exercises to reduce anxiety and stress.
COLLEGE HERE WE COME!

While many seniors in the district were working hard to submit college applications on November 1st, we were encouraging this "college going" mantra and took 26 WMS AVID 7th graders to Drew University in Madison NJ.

These eager students were welcomed by university admissions, guided through the beautiful campus by tour guides, and enjoyed eating in a college dining hall for the first time. Thanks to Joan Thakor for planning this learning adventure and to Michele Turk for accompanying the students on this day.
